What is phantom energy consumption?

One of the measures to eliminate phantom energy consumption is to completely disconnect household appliances when they are not in use.
Otherwise, if you just turn off the appliances or even if they are on standby, most of the electronic devices you have at home continue consuming energy because they are still connected to the current and in this case they continue consuming electricity.

We can determine exactly how much energy we generated with our solar power plant, versus how much you are using.

Do you know why phantom energy consumption exists?

Home appliances have a transformer inside and this part adapts the voltage through two coils and even if the appliance is not working, one of these coils is always active. That’s why you can see a red light on the appliance: the standby light.

Appliances that use the most energy in standby mode

-Television 53 kWh per year
-TV encoders between 41 and 64 kWh per year
-Laptop between 35 and 40 kWh per year
Cell phones and coffee maker.

How do you avoid phantom electricity consumption?

-Analyze the labels of the appliances you are going to buy to know what their standby consumption is.
-Use timers, the timer will automatically disconnect the appliance.
-Use power strips, you can unplug more than one device at a time. If you have an area where you work and use the computer, printer and other devices, connect them all to the power strip and when you are no longer using them, just flip the switch.

Once we have set this up at your property, we will monitor it with the owner and set up solutions or adjustments.

So, when we want to save energy or eliminate what we call Phantom Energy (energy that we are waste without even knowing) we have to measure what and how we are wasting it.
